The first bis(cyclotriphosphanyl)diorganylcyclotetraphosphane [(t-BuP) 2 P] 2 (t-Bu) 2 P 4  (1) has been obtained by reacting (t-BuP) 2 PSnMe 3  with PCl 3 , in the molar ratio 3:1. and has been isolated in pure form. Compound 1 is formed as a mixture of two configurational isomers 1a and 1b, which differ in the relative arrangement of the trans-oriented tert-butyl groups at the two three-membered rings. The constitutional isomer, in which three atom , is obviously not stable for steric reasons.
