The crystal structure of SBr 3  + SbF 6  - is reported. It shows short contacts between the S atom of the cation and F atoms of surrounding SbF 6  - anions such that a distorted ψ-octahedral coordination around S is formed. Besides these short S···F-distances, there are short Br···F-contacts in the crystal and nine- and ten-membered heterocycles are formed via S -Br- and Sb-F-bonds and Br···F-contacts.
