The compounds [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 P]PrX 4  · 8 H 2 O (X = Cl, Br), [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 P]LaBr 4  · 8 H 2 O and [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 As]MCl 4  · 8 H 2 O (M = La, Ce, Pr, Sm. Eu, Gd) were prepared and investigated by X-ray diffraction. The compounds were found to be isotypic with [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 As]NdCl 4  · 8 H 2 O, which was structurally characterized already previously. The magnetic behaviour of [(C 6 H 5 ) 4 P]PrX 4  · 8 H 2 O (X = Cl, Br) has been studied.
