Cyclisation of δ-(N,N-dimethylhydrazono)alkyl phosphites afforded the title compounds in moderate to high yields. The ring closure was highly diastereoselective leading to an excess of the diastereomers with the β,β-dimethylhydrazino and MeOP groups in the trans configuration. The structure and relative configurations of diastereomeric pairs were established by  1 H and  13 C NMR spectroscopy. A mechanism of cyclisation was proposed.
