For the synthesis of the compounds ClH 2 SiESiH 3 , (H 3 SiE) 2 SiH 2  and (HSi) 4 E 6 , (H 3 Si) 2 E was used as a chalkogenating agent(E = S,Se). With H 2 SiCl 2  and HSiCl 3 , respectively, pure samples were isolated only of (H 3 SiS) 2 SiH 2 , (HSi) 4 S 6  and (HSi 4 Se 6 . The others were characterised by spectroscopic investigations. An X-ray structure determination for (HSi) 4 S 6  was carried out and a few chemical properties of these substances are described.
