The hybrid phases Nb 59 O 147 F and Nb 65 O 161 F 3  were prepared at high temperature and investi­gated by high resolution transmission electron microscopy. Both phases have block structures. The sample of the phase Nb 59 O 147 F is very well ordered, whereas the phase Nb 65 O 161 F 3  shows some defects. In a sample of Nb 65 O 161 F 3  microdomains of a new 2:1 hybrid phase Nb 96 O 238 F 4  were found. Structural differences of the systems Nb 2 O 5 /NbO 2 F and Nb 2 O 5 /WO 3  are discussed.
