The complexes C 5 Me 5 Pd(PR 3 )X (1-4) are prepared from [Cl(PR 3 )Pd] 2 (μ-OCOCH 3 ) 2  and TIC 5 Me 5 . Attempts to replace the halide ligand by a second C 5 Me 5  or a C 5 H 5  unit remained unsuccessful. The X-ray structure analysis of C 5 Me 5 Pd[P(i-Pr) 3 ]Cl (3) indicates that the five-membered ring shows a tendency of η 1 -bonding towards the metal.
