Besides the well-known argyrodite (Ag 8 GeS 6 ), the new compound Ag 2 GeS 3  could be synthesized from Ag 2 S-GeS 2  mixtures. Ag 2 GeS 3  crystallizes in an orthorhombic variant of the Wurtzite structure. Treatment of Ag 2 GeS 3  in a AgI/AgCl-eutectic yields the quaternary compound Ag 7 GeS 5 I. Crystal data for Ag 7 GeS 5 I and some analogous compounds are given.
