The change of the yellowish solution of MoO 3  in concentrated sulfuric acid into a dark blue colour by diluting with water has its maximum at H 2 SO 4  · 2,85 H 2 O. Spectralphotometric measures show a significant difference to the colour of solutions containing molybdenum-blues.
