2,4,6-Tri(4-pyridyl)-s-triazine is prepared from 4-cyanopyridine by a cationic and anionic mechanism. It forms with transition metal chlorides in toluene or benzene the complexes: (FeCl 3 ) 3 (TPyT) 2 , and (MeCl 2 ) 3 (TPyT) 2  with Me = Ni, Co, Cu.
