The compounds Li 3 MeF 6  (Me = Al, Ga, Ti, V, Cr and Fe) were prepared by reaction of LiF and MeF 3 . We obtained the orthorhombic α-modifications on quenching, on cooling slowly the β-modifications are formed, which crystallise monoclinic, space group C 6  2h  (C2/c) or C s  4  (Cc). DTA-measurements on α-Li 3 VF 6  and the densities of both modifications suggest the α-modification to be the thermodynamical stable phase at room temperature.
