[C 5 H 5 Co (NO)]  2  reacts with C 6 H 5 SSC 6 H 5  to give the complex C 5 H 5 Co (SC 6 H 5 ) (NO) CoC 5 H 5 , in which one NO bridge is substituted by SC 6 H 5 . With C 6 H 5 SeSeC 6 H 5  and (C 6 H 5 )  2 PP (C 6 H 5 )  2  instead of C 6 H 5 SSC 6 H 5  the analogous products, C 5 H 5 Co (SeC 6 H 5 ) (NO) CoC 5 H 5  and C 5 H 5 Co[(C e H 5 ) 2 P]-(NO)CoC 5 H 5 , are obtained. The structure of each of the new complexes is established by IR,  1 H-NMR and mass spectrometry. The similar compounds C 5 H 5 Co (J) (NO) CoC 5 H 5  and C 5 H 5 Co (Br)-(NO)CoC 5 H 5  have not yet been isolated. However, peaks from ions due to the latter compounds are found in the mass spectra of C 5 H 5 Co (NO) J and C 5 H 5 Co (NO) Br respectively.
