Adenin-cobamid (Pseudovitamin B 12 ) und 2-Methyladenin-cobamid (Faktor A) werden mit Monoperphthalsäure in Dimethylformamid im Purin-Anteil des Moleküls zu den entsprechenden 1-N-Oxyden oxydiert. Durch Abbau von 1-N-Oxy-2-methyl-adenin-cobamid (1-N-Oxy-Faktor A) werden 1-N-Oxy-2-methyl-7-α-ᴅ-ribofuranosyl-adenin und 1-N-Oxy-2-methyl-adenin erhalten. Diese werden außerdem durch direkte Oxydierung des Nucleosides bzw. der Base von Faktor A dargestellt.
