Bei dicken Fasern findet sich bei maximaler Verkürzung ein positiv doppelbrechender Mantel um einen Kern, der in der üblichen Additionslage der Messung negativ doppelbrechend, isotrop oder sehr schwach positiv doppelbrechend erscheint.
