The Skyrme single particle potential is modified by adding a new term which is taken to be the derivative of the central part of the Skyrme interaction. It is seen that, when this term is added to the original Skyrme interaction, there is a better agreement with experiment regarding the various moments of the charge densities of nuclei with 48 ≤ A ≤ 208.
