Measurements of particle concentrations of Al and AlO are performed in premixed laminar H 2 /O 2 -flames with additives of organic aluminium compounds. Using the oscillator strengths in electronic-vibronic transitions of AlO published by Michels  1 , absolute number densities for different equilibria in the range 2750 - 2980 K are determined. By means of second law and third law plots a dissociation energy for AlO of 5.06 ± 0.08 eV is achieved. This value is in agreement with recent results obtained from mass spectroscopic techniques by Hildenbrand  2 .
