The cross section of the reaction Kr + +D 2 →KrD + +D is about 10 times smaller than that of the corresponding reaction between Ar +  and D 2  . The KrD +  ion is nearly isotropically scattered (cm-system) at a relative translational energy of 0.89 eV. At 2,70 eV, maximum KrD +  intensity is found at the velocity expected from the spectator stripping model, although significant isotropic scattering still occurs. The interaction of he incident ion with the spectator D-atom is much stronger for Kr +  than for Ar + . It is proposed that rather eccentric colisions lead to stripping, while rather centric collisions lead to hard sphere scattering of the product ion.
