The compounds Co (Py)  4 Cl 2 , Co (Py)  2 Cl 2 , Cu (Py) 2 (NCS)  2 , Co (Py)  4  (NCS)  2  and Ni (Py)  4  (NCS)  2  were synthesized and their I.R. spectra recorded. The assignment of the vibrational frequencies is given with reference to the crystal structure of these compounds.
