In an analysis of “sympathy for political parties” by multidimensional scaling it is shown that the stronger assumption of metric data (instead of non-metric) is worth considering for it yields decisively stronger results. The main problem of interpretation of axes is attacked by determining axes based on external criteria with regard to the contents.
