Es ist wahrscheinlich, dass der Titel des Antiochus Ἐπιφανὴς bei der Verwendung von ἀφανίζω (vernichten, verwüsten) und seiner verwandten Nominalform im Hintergrund steht, insbesondere in der Theodotion-Übersetzung mit einigen anderen möglichen Referenzen im Altgriechischen.
