I am by disposition, and increasingly by academic self-identification, a “PPE person”. By this I mean that, though my home discipline is Economics, I am especially interested in the intersections between Economics and Philosophy, and Economics and Political Science. In this enterprise, I like to think of myself as a kind of fellowtraveller with Friedrich Hayek – who stands as a forerunner and a role-model in the PPE enterprise. And for this reason especially (though for many others as well) I feel deeply honoured to have received the medal that bears his name.
