A sol-gel method was used to synthesis La 2 Ti 2 O 7  photocatalysts using PEG4000 as the template. La 2 Ti 2 O 7  particle size sharply decreases with the addition of PEG4000. An impurity phase of La 0.66 TiO 2.993  is introduced in the perovskite La 2 Ti 2 O 7  after addition of more than 1.0 g PEG4000. Specific surface areas of the samples are gradually enlarged with increasing amount of PEG4000, accompanied with shrinking average pore size. Both of photocatalytic degradation and adsorption efficiencies of RBR-X3B increase along with the addition of PEG4000. The La 2 Ti 2 O 7  sample using 1.5 g PEG4000 has the maximum photocatalytic activity, on which nearly 95.3% of the initial RBR-X3B is decolorized after 120 min of irradiation. Only 43.2% of the RBR-X3B is decolorized on the initial La 2 Ti 2 O 7  after the same time. This is in accordance to the formation of hydroxyl radicals as a factor of the addition of PEG4000.
