Visible-light-active photocatalysts TiO 2  induced by ZnFe 2 O 4  nanoparticles (ZnFe 2 O 4 /TiO 2 ) were prepared by a simple preparation method. The diffuse reflection spectra (DRS) results showed that the absorption edge of ZnFe 2 O 4 /TiO 2  photocatalyst moved to the visible spectrum range and a large redshift occurred in comparison with the undoped TiO 2 . X-ray diffraction (XRD) results showed that the dispersed ZnFe 2 O 4  nanoparticles prevented the formation of the rutile phase to some extent. Field emission scanning electron micrography (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to characterize the morphology of the photocatalyst, indicating that the ZnFe 2 O 4  nanoparticles were dispersed among TiO 2  nanoparticles. The analysis of X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) indicated that all the characteristic peaks of TiO 2  and ZnFe 2 O 4  were observed in the ZnFe 2 O 4 /TiO 2  composite photocatalysts and the hydroxyl content on the surface of ZnFe 2 O 4 /TiO 2  nanoparticles was more than that on the surface of TiO 2 . The photocatalytic experimental results exhibited that ZnFe 2 O 4 /TiO 2  could effectively photodegrade methyl orange under visible light irradiation, and the ZnFe 2 O 4  had a visible light-induced role.
