MCM-41 mesoporous zeolite was pretreated by high temperature activation and hydrochloric acid treating. TiO 2 /MCM-41 was prepared with a sol-gel method using activated MCM-41 mesoporous zeolite as carrier. Effects of calcination process on the morphology and photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 /MCM-41 photocatalyst were investigated by the XRD, BET, TEM and EDS characterization results and the degradation experiment of Acid Red B aqueous solution. The results indicated that MCM-41 mesoporous zeolite effectively suppressed the polymorphs of the anatase phase transition and the nanocrystal growth of TiO 2  in the calcination process. In the calcination, anaerobic, hypoxia and excessive heating rate resulted in the generation of carbonation effect and severely affected the photocatalytic performance. When the samples were calcined at 600 °C for 2h, and the heating speeds was below 10 °C/min and ventilatory capacity is higher than 7 ml·g -1 ·min -1 , the prepared TiO 2 / MCM-41 catalyst possessed highest photocatalytic activity. The results of degradation experiments showed that the degradation efficiency for the solution with the condition, 2.0 g/L catalyst dosage, 100 mg/L initial dye solution and initial pH value of 2, could reach up to 100% after 2h.
