Nine glass concentric reactors (LD. from 19 to 94 mm) were constructed with a 4-watt UV lamp (1.5 cm O.D. × 11 cm length) located at the center. TiO 2  was coated on the inner surface of the glass reactor to test the oxidation efficiency of butyraldehyde, ethylbenzene, and PCE, separately, in the air. The reactant conversion percentages increased as the space time increased. For the same space time, a smaller diameter reactor gave a higher conversion. The total reactant converted rate was nearly equal to its input rate when the input rate was small, and was significantly less than its input rate when the input rate was large. In general, the total reactant conversion rate increased with the reactor diameter. The percent conversions of bytyraldehyde and ethylbenzene increased as the humidity increased from zero to 4,000 ppm (20% relative humidity), and approached a constant value after that. For PCE, the conversion decreased with the relative humidity. The percent conversions of all the three reactants decreased as their inlet concentration increased, indicating a competitive adsorption on the catalyst surface. For the oxygen concentration effect, the percent conversion increased and approached a constant as the oxygen concentration increased.
