Gaining practical experience – towards a combination of teaching, research and professional life The authors argue for a combination of research and practice within 21st century university course work. During a course dedicated to research practice, an Androidbased application for campus navigation called URWalking was developed. During the course, students had to do both, research and implementation building on the contents of previous classes. The approach proved to be valuable for students as well as lecturers.
