The Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) in Dresden has become a famous phenomenon. It fascinates people not only in Germany but also abroad. Meanwhile, even social scientists have discovered the Church of Our Lady in Dresden as an object of interest. This paper presents the findings of biographical interviews, a survey among registered sponsors, and a Delphi-study conducted with experts. According to our results, the ‘religion’ of the Church of Our Lady is mainly based on memories and relationships with Dresden. The attraction of a unique building is also a factor in the phenomenon of the church. By contrast, the membership in a church and the demonstration of one's own faith do not constitute this religion.
