In the introductory part, statistical analyses of previous studies, interviews with translators and data from the Slovenian national bibliographical database are used to evaluate the reception of Ilse Aichinger’s works in Slovenia. The article presents the role and position of the translation of the novel Die größere Hoffnung from the year 2003, published by the Austrian-Slovenian publishing house Mohorjeva druzˇba /Hermagoras Verein in Klagenfurt, and its Slovenian radio adaptation in the year 1972. The second part of the paper examines the degrees of equivalence and adequacy between the two translations and the original at different levels of the text on the basis of a critical comparative analysis. Despite occasional deviations, both Slovenian versions can be considered to be satisfactory.
