The Pearl Necklace,  a recently published Arabic manuscript from the eighteenth century, provides a new version of  The Miracle of the fried Rooster , also called  The Comparative Denial  ( Mot. E524.2.1  Cooked Rooster crows ). Variations of this miracle form the material for several dozens of popular tales and songs collected in Europe during the nineteenth century.  The Pearl Necklace  was probably translated around the eleventh-twelfth centuries from a Coptic text that included the legend that characterizes  The Book of the Cock , itself derived from a lost Greek original dating back to the fifth or sixth century. It adds another significant milestone in the history of the   comparative denial   motif.
