Henrik R. Lassen (Syddansk Universitet, Kolding) and Else Marie Kofod (Dansk Folkemindesamling [Danish Folklore Archives], Copenhagen) had invited the members of the International Society for Contemporary Legend Research (ISCLR) to hold their annual meeting in Copenhagen, a city which – like Seville – carries the label ‘wonderful’, and indeed Copenhagen provided a most enjoyable background for the conference. The sessions took place in the so-called Black Diamond building of the Royal Library, a prizewinnning edifice of black marble and glass on the waterfront of Slotsholmen that had been opened in 1999; the hotel where most participants lived was only a couple of streets away, so that getting around the city was easy for everbody; and on one of the evenings participants got together for a Danish style dinner at an idyllic garden restaurant, with a lovely view of the moat that separates Christianshavn from Amager. We owe thanks to the organizers who have made this conference such a pleasant and inspiring event!
