The site of Mogou, a provincial level protected site, is located in Chenqi (present-day Wangqi) Township, Lintan County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in southern Gansu Province. From July to November, 2008, the Gansu Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the Research Center for Historical Heritage and Archaeology at Northwest University collaborated to excavate the Qijia Culture cemetery in the northeast portion of the site. In total, 346 Qijia Culture burials were excavated in this term. Among these, the percentage of graves with side chambers was unprecedented, and multiple burials with 2–9 individuals of both sexes and all ages being quite common. The burial types in these graves were complex and varied and many of the human bones were clumped together which suggests that many of these graves should be classified as multiple, secondary burials.
