Six sites at Bahía de Los Ángeles, in the northern Gulf of California, were sampled seasonally over a six-year period. A total of 108 taxa of marine algae were determined, of which 26 previously not recorded for this Bay were identified. Forty-three previously recorded species for the Bay and Islands were not observed, 21 of which had been reported only from Cabeza de Caballo, Coronado (Smith), La Ventana, Los Gemelos, and Piojo Islands. In this work only Coronado Island was sampled. The families with greatest representation are: Ceramiaceae and Rhodomelaceae with 17 species each and Halymeniaceae with 12 species. On a seasonal basis, temperature and biodiversity showed an inverse relationship: the highest number of species occurred in spring and early summer, when temperatures were lowest, and the lowest number of species occurred in autumn, when temperatures were highest. Most species of red algae in Bahía de Los Ángeles are annual species.
