The scientific and economic success of deep neural networks has sparkled many efforts to adopt further methods from the area of Computational Intelligence (CI) in different engineering disciplines [1, 2]. Generative design, smart factories, predictivemaintenance, and smart grids are only a few innovations driven by CI approaches such as Multiobjective Evolutionary Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimizers, and Simulated Annealing. For over 20 years, the EvoStar conference series has created a forum for participants from academia and industry to exchange information about the newest scientific achievements in CI and their applications to real-world tasks. Organized for the first time in the year 1998, the annual EvoStar conference has so far visited cities in 14 different European countries, among them in the last 4 years Parma, Amsterdam, Porto, and Copenhagen. In 2019, the city of Leipzig was hosting the conferences. It is the second time EvoStar was coming to Germany after visiting Tübingen in 2009. From 24th to 26st of April 2019, over 140 participants from 30 countries met for three days of lectures, talks, discussions, and meetings at the premises of Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK), with Hendrik Richter as the local chair. The EvoStar 2019 consisted of four conferences: The 22nd European Conference on Genetic Programming [3], with conference program chairs Lukas Sekanina (Brno University of Technology, CzechRepublic) andTingHu (Memorial University ofNewfoundland, Canada), the 22ndEuropeanConference on the Applications of Evolutionary and Bio-inspired Computation [6] with conference program chairs Paul Kaufmann (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany) and Pedro Castillo-Valdivieso (University of Granada, Spain), the
