DNA analyses are effectively used in the resolution of criminal cases, the determination of genealogy, disaster victim identification and exoneration of people sentenced for a crime they did not commit. The logic behind forensic DNA analyses is the fact that the DNA molecule areas examined are 'unique' in every human being in the world. Within the scope of the Turkish Criminal Procedure Code, which was put into practice in 2005, arrangements have also been made as to molecular genetic examination in investigation of crimes.
