Özet: Antakya ve yakin çevresi aktif Ölü Deniz Fayi'nin etki alaninda yer alir. Bu nedenle tarihsel dönemde birçok yikici depreme maruz kalmiştir. Ancak, son 135 yildir bölgede gerilimi boşaltacak bir deprem olmamiştir. Bu durum, her geçen gün olabilecek yikici deprem riskini artirmaktadir. Bu çalişmada, Antakya şehrinin sismotektoniği ve depremselliği incelenerek sismik riskin boyutu ortaya konulmaya çalişilmiştir. Şehrin bulunduğu alandaki zeminler; tektonik, litolojik, jeomorfolojik ve hidrojeolojik özelliklerin yaninda litolojik birimlerin süreksizlik yüzeyi tanimlamalari, Schmidt çekici geri tepme sayilari ve nokta yükü dayanimlari dikkate alinarak olasi bir depremde gösterecekleri tepkilere göre en zayif, zayif, az sağlam, orta derecede sağlam ve sağlam zeminler şeklinde siniflandirilmiştir. Bu siniflandirmaya uygun zemin mukavemet haritasi yapilmiştir. Buna göre mevcut yerleşmeler daha çok en zayif ve zayif zeminler üzerinde yer almaktadir. Bu nedenle yeni yerleşmeler öncelikle sağlam ve orta derecede sağlam zeminlerin topografik olarak yerleşmeye elverişli alanlarina inşa edilmelidir. Ancak bu alanlar yeni yerleşimler için yeterli olmadiğindan az sağlam zeminler tercih edilmelidir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Antakya, deprem, zemin özellikleri ve zemin mukavemeti. Abstract: Antakya and its surroundings are in the effect area of the active Dead Sea Fault. Therefore, it has been subjected to many destructive earthquakes in the historical periods. However, there has not been any earthquake to discharge the stress in the last 135 years. This situation increases the risk of destructive earthquake day by day. In this research, the size of the seismic risk has been studied by examining the sismotectonic and sismitity of the Antakya city. The ground on which the city is located were classified as the poorest, poor, somewhat sound, medium sound, and sound grounds according to the possible reactions to be shown in a possible earthquake based on the tectonical, litological, geomorphological, and hydrogeological properties as well as the discontinuity surface definitions of the litological units, Schmidt hammer reaction counts, and point load strength. A ground strength map of the city has been developed based on this classification. Current settlings are mostly located on the poorest and poor grounds according to the map developed in the study. Therefore, future settlings have to be constructed firstly on the topographically convenient parts of the sound and medium sound grounds. However, since these grounds are not sufficient for future settlings, less sound grounds should be recommended.
