This article presents the results of a research project which has been the fi rst undertaking of this kind in the history of institutional economics and legal theory at the same time. The project provided for carrying out comprehensive and long term research on the entire legislative process in a country (Poland) over more than twenty years. The project was fi nanced by the Polish National Science Centre pursuant to decision-DEC-2013/09/B/HS5/04078. The title of the project was ‘Application of Statistical Methods to Determine the Nature of Long-term Trends Occurring in the Legislative Process’.
