Acute bronchiolitis, is predominantly a viral disease, part of the spectrum of lower respiratory tract diseases, and is a major cause of illness and hospitalization in infants and children younger than 2 years of age. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of treatment protocols, other laboratory results, and isolated viral agents on the duration of hospitalization. Methods: Data of 95 children who were hospitalized with the diagnosis of bronchiolitis at the pediatrics clinic of Konya Training and Research Hospital between October 2013 and May 2014 were reviewed retrospectively. 64 Akın ve ark., Akut Bronşiyolitte İzole Edilen Viral Patojenler / doi: 10.14744/hnhj.2017.76486 Akut bronşiyolit sıklıkla iki yaş altı çocuklarda görülen, küçük hava yollarının enflamatuvar obstruksiyonundan kaynaklanan, hızlı solunum, göğüste çekilmeler ve hışıltılı solunum ile karakterize, genelikle viral bir hastalıktır [1,2]. Vakaların %50’sinden sorumlu mikroorganizma respiratuvar sinsityal virüsdür (RSV). Diğer ajanlar arasında rinovirüs, parainfluenza ve adenovirüs yer alır. Bakteriyel bir etkeni olduğuna dair kanıt bulunmamakla beraber bronşiyoliti bakteriyel süperenfeksiyon izleyebilir [1]. Bronşiyolit mevsimsel özellik gösterir ve çoğunlukla kış aylarında görülür. Dünyada her yıl bir yaşından küçük yüz binlerce çocuk bronşiyolit atağı nedeniyle hastaneye yatırılarak takip edilmekte ve geçen her yıl bu rakamlar sürekli artış göstermektedir. Hastalık şiddetinin değerlendirilmesi için dakikadaki solunum sayısı, hışıltı, göğüste çekilmeler ve genel durumu dikkate alan Wang skorlama sistemi (Tablo 1) kullanılır [3]. Çalışmamızın amacı akut bronşiyolit tanısıyla hastanede yatan çocuklardan izole edilen viral etkenler, diğer laboratuvar bulguları ve uygulanan tedavi yöntemlerinin hastaların yatış sürelerine etkisini araştırmaktır.
