In this study, a polymersupported terpyridine–palladium complex was prepared and found to promote the Suzuki–Miyaura crosscoupling reaction in water. The terpyridine ligand was prepared from 4methoxycarbonylbenzaldehyde, 2acetylpyridine according to the reported procedures. The terpyridine ligand was immobilized onto a PSPEG resin, and the complexation of the PSPEG terpyridine ligand with Pd(II) gave the PSPEG terpyridine–Pd(II) complex. The polymeric catalyst showed high catalytic activity and high reusability for this crosscoupling reaction. This catalyst was also applied to the synthesis of 2,6disubstituted pyrimidines in water.
