The municipalities are a settlement classified as administrative.Depending on the type of settlement, the municipalities may be a metropolis or a town or even a village.But in Turkey, municipal settlements generally consist of towns and larger settlements.The first period in the development of the municipal population in Turkey is the period of steady increase between 1927-1950.In the second period, after 1950, the rate of urbanization started to increase in parallel with the changes in the country's management and economic structure; this is the period of dynamic increase that continues to increase until today. The municipal settlements, which correspond to the provincial and district centers and are generally regarded as cities, are always considered to be places of increasing population.However, there are settlements that are tending to decline, as well as the rapid increase in population from these municipal settlements.In addition, there are also those who have different characteristics from the settlement of the towns and villages except for the province and district centers.The ability to analyze these trends of change throughout the country is the focus of the study.Study; firstly the concept of municipal settlement was explained, then the change of the population in municipal settlements and the change in geographical region was evaluated.Finally, effective parameters have been assessed on the population change in the settlements in question . Yerlesme tipine gore belediyeler buyuksehir olabilecegi gibi kasaba hatta koy statusunde de olabilirler. Ancak Turkiye’de genel olarak belediye orgutlu yerlesmeler kasaba ve daha buyuk yerlesmelere karsilik gelmektedir. Turkiye’de Belediyelerin nufuslarinin gelisiminde ilk donem 1927-1950 yillari arasindaki duragan artis donemidir. Ikinci donem ise 1950’den sonra ulke yonetiminde ve iktisadi yapidaki degismelere paralel olarak kentlesme hizi yukselmeye baslamis bu yukselis gunumuze kadar artarak suregeldigi dinamik artis donemidir. Il ve ilce merkezilerine karsilik gelen ve genellikle kent olarak gorulen belediye orgutlu yerlesmeler, nufuslari daima artan yerler olarak dusunulmektedir. Ancak belediye orgutlu olan bu yerlesmelerden nufuslari hizla artan oldugu gibi azalma egiliminde olan yerlesmeler de bulunmaktadir. Ayrica il ve ilce merkezleri disinda kasaba ve koy statusundeki yerlesmelerden nufuslarinin degisim egilimi farkli ozellikte olanlar da bulunmaktadir. Iste bu degisim egilimlerini ulke sathinda analiz edebilmek, calismanin odak noktasini olusturmaktadir.  Calismada; ilk olarak belediye orgutlu yerlesme kavrami aciklanmis, daha sonra belediye orgutlu yerlesmelerde nufusun genel degisimi ve cografi bolge bazindaki degisimi degerlendirilmistir.  Son olarak,soz konusu yerlesmelerdeki nufusun degisimi uzerinde etkili parametreler ve bunlarin sonuclari degerlendirilmistir.
