It is clear that the New Public Management (NPM) approaches which are mostly themes of private sector, would impact/contribute to the Turkish National Police (TNP) that has a workforce over 200 thousand. This study attempts to identify how far the NPM applications are implemented and how is it perceieved by the managing level officials in the TNP. To the aforementioned ends, this study conducted several interviews with open ended questions and found at the first place that mid and upper level managers of the TNP believe that the NPM has resulted in managers questioning of shared values, functions, services and the role of the TNP and in turn strive for making progress on the role of the organization. This study also found that the NPM approaches has made notible changes in the TNP and its services/fuctions such as de-bureaucratization to certain levels, increased citizen satisfaction. It however identified that these NPM changes are not based on systematic and structural institutional developments but based only on individual efforts which are not sustainable. Moreover, it found that the notions of NPM can not easily be applied and practiced in the TNP due to rigid systemic structures that resist any change. As a result, despite the fact the NPM has cause certain progresses with individual efforts, it is quite clear that there must be structural and systematic changes for NPM applications to be practiced sustainably in the TNP. Ozet Ozel sektor yonetim anlayisinin kamu yonetiminde de uygulanmaya baslanmasiyla ortaya cikan Yeni Kamu Yonetimi (YKY) yaklasiminin 200.000’in uzerinde mensubu olan polis teskilatinin da yonetimine oldukca katki saglayacagi suphe goturmezdir. YKY yaklasiminin polis teskilatinda ne kadar uygulama alani buldugunun arastirilmasi gereken bir husus oldugundan hareketle bu calisma yapilmis ve YKY’nin Turk Polis Teskilati yoneticileri tarafindan nasil algilandigi ve kurumun isleyisinde YKY uygulamalarinin ne durumda oldugu bu calismanin odak noktasini olusmustur. Mevcut calisma, derinlemesine mulakat yontemi ile Turk Polis Teskilati yoneticilerinin YKY’nin polis teskilatinin kendi oz degeri, rolu ve fonksiyonlarini (sundugu hizmeti) sorguladigini ve bunlari ileriye goturme meylini ortaya koymustur. Bu calisma ile ayrica, YKY etkisinin polis teskilatinda onemli degisiklikler olusturdugu ve kamu hizmeti alaninda yeni yaklasimlarin getirdigi, burokrasinin azaldigi, vatandasin memnuniyetin arttigi, ancak polis teskilatinda kalici bir sistemin olmadigi ve YKY uygulamalarinin polis teskilatinda tam anlamiyla uygulama alani bulamadigi sonucuna ulasilmistir. Netice itibariyla, YKY anlaminda Turk Polis Teskilatinda olumlu gelismeler olsa da altyapi ve sistemsel bir isleyisin getirilmesi gerektigi ortaya cikmistir.
