Cities and local communities are potentially among the most important data providers in the context of National Access Points (NAP) for mobility data as proposed by the EU. However, according to the EU Delegates Regulations, their participation is not mandatory. Based on the example of the Mobility Data Marketplace in Germany, this paper highlights the advantages that cities and municipalities derive from data provision via NAP. The paper also discusses how cities and municipalities can get involved in the process.
