Despite technological progress in the last centuries and decades the problem of the representation and rendering of colours is still present. One of the options to achieve constant colour appearance are colour appearance models. Currently the colour appearance model CIECAM02 is still not employed in 3D computer generated graphics, which have become an everyday occurrence. The aim of this research was an overview of colour spaces used in 3D computer generated graphics, a review of colour reproduction and materials, shading algorithms and selected modern technologies for achieving solid visualization. In addition, we also wanted to investigate the colour appearance model CIECAM02 to such extent that it could be applied to 3D computer generated graphics. For this purpose, a test scene was setup and rendered with three rendering engines (the built-in Blender Render and Cycles and the add-on Yafaray) in Blender. It was confi rmed that CIECAM02 can be used in 3D space and its use grants better colour matching when changing the background. Furthermore, it was ascertained that colour was diff erently rendered using diff erent rendering engines. This research is convenient for all those who would like to present their twoor three-dimensional products with 3D computer generated graphics. Hence, for the fi elds of clothing and textile goods visualization used in fashion and interior design, the automotive, nautical and aircraft industry and beyond, where impeccable 3D visualizations of textile and clothing represent an indispensable element of visual and graphic communications.
