In this work, theoretically reviewing the way in which the concept of subject is addressed both in Discourse Analysis and Psychoanalysis, we analyze sayings to/of the subjects of/in crime, in a cartoon entitled “Da FEBEM para o presídio” [“From juvie to jail”] by Angeli, published in Folha de São Paulo. We demonstrate how the subjects in such a cartoon erase other meanings of themselves which are unrelated to crime, and silence the violence they suffer through the operation of the State’s Repressive Apparatus, their pain being almost impossible to enunciate.
