Public Administration acts with the purpose of meeting the basic needs of the population, such as health, safety and education, thus promoting the well-being of society. To meet these needs, public policies are promoted, which are paid for by the collection of taxes charged to all taxpayers. The research aims to identify the most used social control tools and what comprises each one, the explanation of the legislation relevant to public transparency, in addition to the perception of public servants regarding the effectiveness of social control. The work has a descriptive quantitative approach, through a questionnaire about the evaluation of mechanisms that lead to the exercise of social control. It was found that the interviewees considered governmental portals to be important for the effectiveness of social control, but there is a difficulty linked to the information contained in these portals, either due to the difficult understanding, or because they cannot find the information sought.
