The pedagogical professional, in the exercise of their functions, there may be a need to act in environments other than the classroom in the school space, as in the case of acting in hospital environments, in order to offer continuity of teaching to students who, due to problems health, they need to be hospitalized for a long period and so that there is no evasion, failure and discontinuity of the process, they have the right to be assisted by a pedagogue in the place where they are hospitalized. Given this context, the present research aimed to reflect on the importance of the pedagogue and his practice in the hospital environment, as well as to understand his role in teaching and learning in this segment, and also to debate about the challenges of acting in this environment, the competences, the skills and construction of new knowledge that needs to be developed and the specificity that pedagogical work in hospitals needs. The choice of the theme was due to the need to debate the profile of the pedagogue to work in hospital classes. The methodology used to carry out the research, constituted a qualitative approach, through the literature review of several authors who discuss the theme, which supported the study and it was possible to conclude the fundamental importance of the pedagogue's performance with the students who undergo health treatment for a long period. In this context, the pedagogue, in addition to ensuring the continuation of learning, will also contribute, together with other health professionals, to the improvement of the emotional, psychological, physical and social conditions of the student / patient.
