Non-Governmental Organizations are part of a sector of society that play an economically relevant role. It is through this sector that the least favored part of the population (who do not have sufficient financial resources to reach certain types of services), are assisted. The objective of the research is to identify the degree of adherence to the norms and accounting practices of Non-Governmental Organizations in Pernambuco, through its compliance with the General Technical Instruction ITG 2002 (R1), in order to clarify the panorama of the real scenario of the sector in the State. To carry out the descriptive study, we used the survey method, where 12 non-profit entities were studied, the sample being determined by the non-probabilistic snowball method, whose collection instrument was the questionnaire. The research showed that the entities studied do not fully adhere to what is established by ITG 2002 (R1), and most of them have an intermediate degree as to compliance with the rules, and even though, no organization has managed to reach a level of adherence the standard.
