Summary Essential oils based on volatile compounds have not been commonly used in plant protection. Taking into consideration the modern pest management, especially organic crop protection, essential oils could be a good alternative for traditional pest management against plant pathogens and pests. The aim of the study was to review the information on biological activities of essential oils against pest insects. Adequate choice of aroma and the concentration of essential oils allow to protect crops effectively.
