We investigate the possibility of using multiple-scattering optical media, asresources of randomness in cryptographic tasks pertaining to commitments andauctions. The proposed commitment protocol exploits standard wavefront-shapingand heterodyne-detection techniques, and can be implemented with currenttechnology. Its security is discussed in the framework of a tamper-resistanttrusted setup.
