L’estudi analitza les vuitanta-una cartes —conservades a la Biblio- teca Museu Víctor Balaguer i en la seua major part inèdites— que el dra- maturg i polític Jerónimo Borao envià, entre els anys 1848 i 1878, al polític i intel·lectual català Víctor Balaguer. D’aquesta manera, s’hi assenyala l’in- terés de Borao a descobrir i difondre la història de la Corona d’Aragó, i també les relacions i els contactes que, quasi sempre a través de Balaguer, establí amb escriptors com ara el català Lluís Roca i el valencià Jacint La- baila. Finalment, s’evidencia com, a diferència dels seus conterranis, que buscaren relacionar-se amb els cercles madrilenys, l’escriptor romàntic ara- gonés s’estimà més projectar-se envers el territori catalanoparlant, que en aquells anys es trobava immers en el moviment de recuperació cultural i identitària conegut amb el nom de Renaixença.This study analyses the eighty-one letters, which are kept in the library of the Víctor Balaguer Museum and are largely unpublished, that the playwright and politician Jerónimo Borao sent to the Catalan politician and intellectual Víctor Balaguer between 1848 and 1878. The correspondence shows Borao’s interest in learning about and disseminat- ing the history of the Crown of Aragon and it reveals the relations and contacts Borao established with writers such as the Catalan Lluís Roca and the Valencian Jacint Labaila, almost always through Balaguer. Lastly, the study points to how the Aragonese Romantic writer differed from his contemporaries, who sought to engage with Madrid-based circles, by in- stead placing a higher value on expanding his presence in the Catalan- speaking territory, then immersed in a movement to restore its culture and identity under the banner of the Renaixença, the Catalan renais-\udsance
