The aim of this study was to develop undergraduate studentsu0027 critical thinking skills using a socio-critical and problem-oriented approach to the study of nanoscience and nanotechnology (NST) materials. This study discusses the social scientific issues regarding NST that occur in society. The research was conducted with 33 participants using a qualitative research approach where interviews, observations, reflective journals, and critical thinking questions were employed as data collection. The results show studentsu0027 critical thinking skills developed where they were able to identify issues, explain issues with scientific concepts, connect ideas or concepts, provide good arguments and provide conclusions based on some evidence. The students faced the challenges in developing their critical thinking skills in relation to chemistry concepts.
